This service includes a detailed proofread of your manuscript, fixing all grammatical errors. It does not include plot suggestions or comments. The proofreading service is perfect for the book that is polished, well-written, and just needs a final pass to check for all remaining errors.

Copy Editing
This service includes everything offered in the proofreading package, plus a little extra! I will edit for grammatical errors, as well as for flow, structure, and readability. This includes tweaking sentences when needed and swapping words for clarity, delivering a polished novel. Does not include plot suggestions or comments.

Manuscript Critique
I will provide a detailed editorial report of your manuscript, focusing on content: plot, flow, characterization, setting, tone, continuity, consistency, etc. An editorial report consists of a written, 3-5 page document with my detailed thoughts, suggestions, and concerns about your overall novel. I will also leave detailed notes throughout your manuscript elaborating on my comments made in my report. Example: This section is a good place to insert some character development. Why does this character think this way? How does this relate to her actions and motivations?
This service does not include any proofreading or copy editing. No actual changes will be made to your manuscript text.

Query Letter Critique

I’ll leave comments and suggestions about the tone, pacing, characterization, and the direction of the story. The service also includes proofreading. This is a great option if you’re getting ready to send out query letters with the ever-important first chapter attached!

Do you have an article, blog post, or essay in need of proofreading and copy editing? Look no further, I’d love to help you out!

For all of the services listed above, I use Microsoft Word. I use the “Track Changes” feature to leave edits and comments, so it’s easy for you to see and accept all of my suggestions. If you choose to purchase one of my services, I’ll need your project in a Microsoft Word document. I will occasionally edit in Google Docs for smaller projects.
If you’re wanting to combine any of my services (i.e. copy editing plus a manuscript critique), I offer discounted rates!
I offer editing samples of up to 1000 words for the proofreading and copy editing services.
If you’d like to discuss your project over the phone (once one of my editing services has been completed) to ask questions or elaborate on my comments, I charge $50 per hour.
Please note that, while I am a professional editor, there is always room for error. It is not uncommon to find a few missed mistakes after a pass from any editor.
